Hello Quantumers!
This month we are going to focus on the fascinating domain of Quantum Computing, by having our first ONLINE meetup on this topic.
The surprising and unique properties of quantum systems at atomic scales can be used to create novel computers that may be much faster than conventional computers. On the 9th June, we are all going to explore some facets of this technology.
As part of this session, participants would be given an overview of the minimum Mathematics and Physics necessary notions and then be taken through main concepts such as Qubit, Quantum Register, Quantum Algorithms, Measurement and Partial Measurement. These theoretical concepts will be illustrated on a simple application on IBM Q Experience.
The Quantum entanglement is also discussed together with an intuitive analogy, and a concrete implementation on IBM Q Experience. For a better understanding of both advantages and limitations of quantum computing, we will also consider and explore Grover's algorithm, in contrast with classical sequential search.
This talk will provide a (hopefully understandable, intuitive) introduction to the main principles that governs quantum computing, the usage of quantum gates, and quantum algorithms with some applications.
Here’s our Agenda:
1) Get you up to speed with the basics of Quantum Computing (qubit to quantum algorithms) with a concrete implementation through the IBM Q Platform
2) Dive straight into quantum entanglement with a concrete implementation through the IBM Q platform! How cool is that!?
3) Get to sit with our speaker who will be talking about applications and limitations of Quantum Computing and ongoing research.
4) Q&A
Our speaker is Ioan Valeriu Grossu, which has an experience of over 8 years in IBM and a Ph.D. in an interdisciplinary domain: High Energy Physics, Chaos Theory, Computational Physics (University of Bucharest, Faculty of Physics, Romania). He is a passionate researcher with more than 40 articles published in international Journals and conference proceedings.
Let's kick-off the first meetup on Quantum Computing! Looking forward to seeing you in the virtual space!
